Silvio Wolf

Silvio Wolf (Milan, 1952) is an Italian artist whose practice investigates photography as a language of light, time and perception rather than simply as a means of recording reality. After studying Philosophy and Psychology in Italy, he trained in Photography and Visual Arts at the London College of Printing.

Working across photography, video, sound and site-specific installation, Wolf explores the boundaries between the visible and the invisible, presence and absence, two-dimensional images and architectural space. In series such as Icons of Light and Horizons, the photographic process itself becomes the subject: light does not merely reveal an image but generates, alters or partially destroys it. His installations often respond directly to the history and physical character of their locations, transforming exhibition spaces into perceptual experiences.

This tag gathers articles, exhibition reviews and critical perspectives on Silvio Wolf’s work, his experiments with photographic abstraction and his contribution to contemporary Italian and international art.
